Katia Sloan, Ph.D., RDN, provides nutritional education to patients and helps them plan a healthful diet to meet their nutritional needs. Nutrition counseling and cooking tips enable patients to maintain their journey to a healthier body and lifestyle.

Nutrition Assessment: A variety of data are collected to perform the nutrition assessment.

  • Food and nutrition-related history: food intake, herbal and vitamin/mineral supplements, food and nutrition knowledge/skill, beliefs and attitudes, physical activity
  • Anthropometric measurements: weight, height, body mass index, body compartment estimates (waist circumference, body fat %)
  • Biochemical data: electrolyte and renal profile, lipid profile, glucose profile
  • Nutrition-focused physical findings: overall appearance, digestive system (ability to chew and swallow foods and liquids), and vital signs (blood pressure)
  • Patient history: alcohol/tobacco use, healthy history, surgery, social history
